Aspiring podiatrists are now provided with an opportunity to gain deeper understanding of the practice before deciding on their career paths. The Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore) worked with member podiatry clinics to host visits for students from Junior Colleges and Tertiary Education Institutions.

During clinic visits, the podiatrists shared briefly on what podiatry is and insights to what the everyday life of a podiatrist entails. The different types of podiatric methods and technologies were also introduced with brief demonstrations conducted, giving students a glimpse into real life podiatry. Feet assessment was undoubtedly the most engaging activity where students had their feet checked by a podiatrist and only to discover that they had lower limb conditions that they weren’t aware of. All participants had a good laugh as they re-learnt about their own lower limb health.

Online video conferences with different overseas universities’ lecturers were also arranged to provide students with more information on their podiatry courses such as the admission criteria, cost, length of study and the academic syllabus.
