In a significant stride towards enhancing podiatric health services, the Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore) in collaboration with Buona Vista Commonwealth Close RN has set up its second Community Podiatry Clinic. This initiative aims to provide basic podiatric care to the elderly residents of the Buona Vista/Commonwealth area, focusing on those from lower-income families.
The clinic was honoured by the presence of Mr. Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Education and Member of Parliament for Buona Vista, on 27 July 2024. His visit to the community clinic not only highlighted community support for such healthcare services but also reinforced the importance of accessing basic podiatric care in preventing severe health issues among the elderly.
Operating since 10 December 2023, the clinic offers basic but crucial services like free lower limb screenings and toenail trimming, which are particularly vital for elderly diabetics to prevent complications such as ulcers and amputations. These services are provided by a passionate team of volunteers from the Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore), who are dedicated to improving the lives of our senior residents by ensuring they receive the best preventive podiatric care possible.
This collaboration exemplifies a community-driven approach to healthcare, ensuring that the most vulnerable among us have access to the care they need to lead healthier, more comfortable lives. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the volunteers and sponsors who support this cause, and we continue to welcome all seniors in the community to benefit from our services.
