The Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore) was honored to be invited to Yishun Innova Junior College on 12 March 2026 to introduce students to the growing profession of podiatric medicine as part of the college’s healthcare career exploration programme.
During the session, students gained an appreciation of the vital role podiatrists play in helping people maintain mobility and independence by preventing, diagnosing and treating conditions affecting the foot and lower limb. The presentation also provided an overview of the educational pathway into the profession and the diverse practice opportunities available in hospitals, community healthcare and private practice.
Students showed a high level of interest throughout the presentation and participated enthusiastically in the discussion that followed. They raised thoughtful questions on the nature of podiatric practice, the skills required to become a podiatrist, and the future prospects of the profession in Singapore. The lively exchange reflected their genuine curiosity about this specialized but increasingly important area of healthcare.
The Association of Podiatric Medicine (Singapore) welcomes opportunities to work with schools in broadening students’ understanding of the many professions within the healthcare sector. By introducing young people to podiatric medicine, the Association hopes to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals and increase awareness of a profession that makes a meaningful difference to patients’ quality of life every day.
